Nursery

Little Oaks is a purpose built nursery consisting of three large classrooms, a role-play ‘Supermarket’ room and a well-equipped garden.

Baby Room

3 months – 2 years

The Baby Room is large and bright for little ones to play and explore. We have a dedicated sensory area and a large selection of toys to encourage each child’s learning and development. There is a cozy corner of the room for sleeping, with cots and mats to recreate a ‘home from home’ experience. We also have play zones such as construction and ‘messy’ areas, as well as a quiet story corner. Children will enjoy regular supervised access to the garden. The Baby Room has its own changing facilities/milk kitchen.

Toddler Room

Age 2 – 3 years

The Toddler Room has separate areas dedicated to aiding your child’s learning and development. Children can participate in arts and crafts, learning about the world, numeracy and role play activities, as well as having a quiet reading corner.

The garden is designed to encourage all areas of development but in particular, coordination and balance. Artificial grass has been installed throughout to enable a safe and comfortable environment for children to play. At this age the majority of children start ‘toilet training’ and we have brightly decorated toilet facilities to help ease the transition and encourage your child’s independence.

Pre-School

Age 3 – 5 years

In the Pre-School Room activities are focused on the skills children need to prepare them for school. All seven areas of learning and development set out in the ‘Early Year Foundation Stage’ are covered in our schedules. The room has a more structured routine, with children working in smaller groups, enabling them to focus on activities for longer periods of time.

Our Pre-School children have their own age appropriate resources, free flow access to a well equipped outside play area and brightly decorated children’s toilets. To encourage independence, children are assisted with activities such as pouring drinks, serving food and laying the table.

The Little Oaks Supermarket

The Supermarket is available to all ages groups. This room provides the opportunity for children to explore and enjoy imaginative play. Role play is fantastic for development in so many areas of the EYFS  including communication and language, personal, social and emotional and understanding the world.
